Labour License

The Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act 1970 requires both the principal employer and the contractor to obtain registrations and licenses if they engage contract labour. The principal employer must register the establishment with the Registering Officer if 20 or more contract workers are employed. The contractor must obtain a license before deploying workers. BSP Associate handles registration and licensing under the Contract Labour Act, Shops & Establishment Act, and other applicable labour laws for businesses in Tamil Nadu.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Labour License.

The principal employer (the company engaging contract workers) must register their establishment if they employ 20 or more contract workers on any day. The contractor (the agency supplying workers) must obtain a license before deploying workers. Both registrations are required independently — the principal employer's registration does not substitute for the contractor's license.
