A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is an electronic form of signature used to authenticate documents filed on government portals — MCA, Income Tax, GST, DGFT, and tender platforms. Class 3 DSC is mandatory for company and LLP directors for MCA filings, for authorised signatories on GST, and for IEC and DGFT applications. Class 2 DSC has been discontinued by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) since January 2021. Class 3 DSC is now the only type issued and is required for all government portal filings including MCA, Income Tax, GST, DGFT, and e-tendering. Class 3 DSC provides the highest level of assurance with in-person or video verification of the applicant's identity.
